A. People with ear eczema may notice dry, flaky skin in or around their ears. This can later lead to ear infection and inflammation of the ear canal. Is the rash itchy? Contact with certain irritants can also cause ear eczema. Soaps, detergents and baby wipes can trigger this. Common allergens and scented lotions, perfumes can also trigger this. It can be due to heat and infections too. Wash the ears each night with warm but not hot water. Use fragrance free moisturisers on the ears immediately after bathing to lock in moisture. Prevent any triggers from coming into contact with the baby's ears. Switch to gentle cleansers and products that are suitable for sensitive skin. If the conditions do not improve, please consult a doctor.
