Q.

my baby is 6m 1w old.. I have started solids and I have read salt and sugar should not be given till 1 yr of age ... so pls suggest me any alternative for sugar to add in porridge / Purees

A. hi, avoid adding alternative sweetener initially. Babies doesn't know sweet or salt taste unless we introduce it. So do not worry the food is bland. Sweetening of food/porridges are not recommended even it is with fruits, dates, etc because it might become a habit in no time and will be difficult to change

A. hello you can either add jaggery or you can also be heading fruits which is also a sweetener in the baby food which will help to get the additional taste in the baby food so the baby will also be able to take and also jaggery is rich in iron content and would be the best option instead of using sugar which is not really the option for the kid also
