Q.

My baby is 20 months old. But he is not showing interest in speech. He understands what we tell him, like if we say go get that toy, he will get it. Only problem is he has not started to talk. Sometimes if I say tell amma, he says once and entire day he won't say anything. He babbles most of the time on his own. kindly tell me what can be done to make him talk

A. Regarding Speech Baby usually start mono syllable by 6 to 7 months of age then by syllable words come by 9 to 10 months of age then by 12 to 14 months of age baby say two to three words followed by jargon speech at 15-16 months . child can start saying simple sentences by two yearers of age . just make the child comfortable and do more interaction with the child so that he can learn to speak sentences properly. if the spfeech does not comes even by three years of age you need to consult your doctor for a proper assessment of the child .
