POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy9 months agoA. Noisy breathing in a baby that sounds like snoring may be due to several benign reasons but should not be ignored if it persists for over a month. This condition is often caused by nasal congestion, enlarged adenoids, or laryngomalacia, a condition where the baby’s airway is slightly floppy. If your baby is feeding well, sleeping comfortably, and is otherwise active, it may not be a cause for immediate concern.
However, if the noisy breathing is accompanied by signs like difficulty breathing, pauses in breathing (apnea), poor feeding, weight loss, or the baby becoming unusually irritable or lethargic, it would warrant immediate medical attention. A pediatrician can assess your baby’s airway, check for any obstructions, and suggest appropriate treatment if needed. It’s always better to have such symptoms evaluated to rule out any underlying issues.
