A. finger, thumb, hand, things insertion in the oral cavity is very normal at this stage and usually it is due to teething pain the child is experiencing along with inflammation and pain in the gums. just maintain hygiene of the child finger as well as any type of things which goes inside the oral cavity and also try to maintain the hygiene of your finger when you are touching the hands of the child. to decrease the teething pain you can press the gums of the child and if the child is very irritable and crying for pain you can give paracetamol also.d it is a self limiting habit and no treatment is required. but if hygiene is not maintained then dirty things going inside the oral cavityd can cause infection fever vomiting and loose motions.

A. If your four-month-old baby is consistently putting fingers in their mouth and attempting to vomit, it's important to consult with a pediatrician as soon as possible. There could be various reasons for this behavior, and a healthcare professional can help determine the underlying cause. Possible reasons may include: 1. **Teething Discomfort:** Teething can sometimes cause babies to put fingers in their mouths. However, persistent attempts to vomit may not be directly related to teething. 2. **Reflux or Digestive Issues:** Gastroesophageal reflux (GER) or other digestive issues could be contributing to the discomfort. Reflux may cause a baby to show signs of discomfort, including attempts to vomit. 3. **Sensory Exploration:** Babies often explore the world through their mouths. However, consistent attempts to vomit may signal discomfort or an issue. 4. **Infection or Illness:** An underlying infection or illness could be causing distress. Since this behavior raises concerns, it's crucial to seek professional medical advice. The pediatrician can assess the baby's overall health, conduct necessary examinations, and provide appropriate guidance or treatment if needed. If the behavior is severe or if your baby shows signs of distress, seek prompt medical attention.
