Janani ViswanathanMom of 2 children3 years agoA. Have lot of skin to skin sessions with your baby. This is called kangaroo therapy. It improves Breastmilk, improves baby weight and encourages Breastfeeding. And the key is to feed frequently which will inturn increase your milk supply. Milk secretion increases based on demand. So more and more your baby sucks or tries to feed ur milk supply will increase. Garlic or Garlic milk, fenugreek seeds, nuts, oats, green leafy vegetables, ridge gourd, bottle gourd, pumpkin, pulses. Including these in your daily diet can increase milk supply. Also check with your gynecologist and get some supplement like galact granules prescribed. It can also increase breastmilk.
If you have established a nursing routine well then u can give pacifiers. Generally it is advisable to give pacifiers after the baby is around six weeks old as it can cause nipple confusion while breastfeeding resulting in feeding problems. The pros of using a pacifiers is that it will soothe the baby while crying or putting to sleeps, prevents SIDS. The cons will be it can cause nipple confusion resulting in feeding problems, it will become an habit, which you will be required to wean after some time(good if weaned before one year) , you should keep the pacifiers clean to prevent any infections.
Or you can also try swaddling the baby.
