A. since your baby has completed only 4 months, nothing should be given to the child other than breast milk till 6 months are complete, not even water. breastmilk is most nutritious, supports growth, is safe and complete food for baby. introduction of top foods before 6 months can increase the risk of infection and even reduce milk supply. after baby completes 6 months, give homemade balanced diet having variety of food groups. you can give homemade Cerelac instead of commercially available baby food which have high added sugar, flavour.

A. you are advised to exclusively breastfeed the baby for first six months...after the completion of six months you can start with rice water on day one...slowly add new food to the diet of the baby...give only homemade food...try to avoid packaged form...

A. You can start with rice or wheat cerelac. But more than store bought cerelac u can give home made healthy foods to ur baby. After baby completes six months first start with one meal of solid food per day. Start with few spoons and gradually increase the amount every day. Replace one feed with solid food, then slowly after some days start replacing another feed with solid food. After one or two months the baby can be having three meals per day. After feeding solids give few spoons of water. Once three meals a day routine is established you can fill the in between gaps with semisolids or liquids or breastmilk and continue breastfeeding or formula at nights. In any case make sure there us at least two hours gap between feeds or meals so that the baby is not overfed. You can Start with Dal or chawal ka pani, after few days start with Fruit purees like apples, pear, avacado, papaya, mashed banana, vegetable puree like carrots, pumpkin, peas, mashed sweet potato or potatoes, pulses, porridge like ragi or oats, veg rice, dal rice, veg kichdi, RASAM rice, steamed idli, home made cereals. Start with easily digestible foods first during day time and then move on to the heavy ones. Also start one food at a time and wait for two to three days to see if it suits your baby and then start something new again. Always follow this two day gap rule between introducing new foods and start any new food only during day time. Also avoid using sugar and salt until the baby is one year old. The babies get the required sugar and salt from all the solid food items , breastmilk or formula they intake. They don't need any additional salt or sugar to be added, extra sugar or salt will not do any good for the baby. Baby will not realise the taste until it is introduced and won't find it blunt as like adults. So baby will accept the blunt taste without salt and sugar until we introduce it.

A. hello...you can start solids only if your baby as completed 6 months...start with unsweetened fruit purees such as apple, banana, pear, cheeku etc. vegetable purees such as sweet potato, potatoes, peas, carrots etc. . curd is an excellent probiotic for the child. you can prepare it at home itself. do not give any animal milk until one year of age.if needed, add breast milk or formula milk to the purees.. kindly continue giving breast milk along with the solids at least till one or two years of age.follow the three-day rule. give only one food item for three days to watch out for any allergies. once that is done, give the second item. . food log- if possible, maintain one so that you can refer back to it someday if needed.. make the child sit with you at the dining table. eating your meals together helps in developing a sense of timing in the child.
