A. hello mam, soft spot is known as fontanelle. and there are two types of fontanelles. 1.posterior fontanelle which is on back side of your child's head. it shaped like triangle. after six weeks of birth ,it closes . 2.anterior fontanelle which is on the top of your child's head. it is larger and diamond shaped. this doesn't usually close until your child is between 10 to 18 months, although some will take longer to close . keep an eye on your child's fontanelle because it gives important clues to state your child's health. for example- sunken fontanelle is sign of dehydration. so,if you are unsure about whether your baby's fontanelle look normal please consult your pediatrician for it.
