Hi I'm 38th week pregnant doctor had suggested me ISOXSUPRINE HYDROCHLORIDE tablets. May I know why this tablets used and are their any side effects for this?

A. Isoxsuprine is in a class of drugs called vasodilators. Isoxsuprine relaxes veins and arteries, which makes them wider and allows blood to pass through them more easily. You may have been given to maintain your blood pressure during delivery and to have proper blood supply to your baby.

A. Hi! Isoxsuprine is basically uterine relaxant drug which helps to prolong pregnancy for time being. Basically it reduces uterine contractions and keeps it relaxed. But as already 38th weeks of pregnancy which means already term pregnancy you should ask your doctor for what reason this drug prescribed. thanks
