Q.

Hi, I'm 36 weeks pregnant with the baby weighing 4 lbs 14 Oz... My OBS planned for a c section at 37+2 days, on the 17 of Feb. I have no other complications except that she feels the baby is small for gestational age and hence the need to deliver as soon as I complete 37 weeks. I'm wondering if I can wait for another week or so, as my instinct tells me that I and the baby are doing normal so far. I'm not diabetic, no hypertension, no thyroid issues and no other complications, except that I currently weigh 90 kgs. My pre-pregnancy weight was 76 and I gained 14 kgs. However, I had an active pregnancy so far and I'm still managing my regular activities as usual. Please suggest, as I have a week left. Just want to know if I can postpone it by another week.

A. you will have to discuss this with your gynaecologist . decide the plan as per pros and cons.

A. @ Dr Rasika thank you doctor, we discussed but somehow the hospital is not very willing to listen to our idea. They have decided on the plan of action (c section after 37 weeks) when I was 32 weeks with baby weight 1.5kg... So, in the last 4 weeks, it has put on 700 gms and is 2.2 kg. My hope is that as I have another 3-4 weeks, it can go up to 2.8 or more, as I have no other complications. They are not willing to listen, they already gave me the anaesthetist opinion and booked the c section slot. Moreover, in the medical notes, they mentioned that "Couple wishes to have LSCS" which is not true. It was definitely the gynac advice that we are following and not our wish to go for C section at 37 weeks. @Anusha, @ Akhila that's exactly what another OBS-GYN said when I consulted her for second opinion. She said the last 4 weeks are when the baby puts on more weight, so we can definitely give it an additional week or two, with weekly fetal weight, fluid monitoring... it sounded good to me. This is my second pregnancy, first being a c section. So, she suggested that more than whether you'll have a normal or c section delivery, your reason to wait should be baby's weight growth and continuous monitoring of kicks and movements. if the graph is progressive, nothing to worry and we can wait. The moment you have a sense of worry, just come over to the hospital she said.

A. Even my baby was 2.1kg at 36 weeks, my previous doctor also said same that we hav to go for c-sec as baby's weight was less. Then i went to other doctor for second opinion. She told as there were no complications we can wait, and i got pains naturally at 37+6weeks and delivered healthy 2.5kg baby normally. we both are absolutely fine
