Hello ma’am Just wash it properly every time whenever you giving a bath to the child just open it a little and pour some water and clean it properly with soap that you are using for your child. Apart from that for initial time a little bit of smell is common because child is passing a lot of urine and motion through the day but this thing sorts after sometime and child learns to have a proper bladder control and also a child learns to pass a urine and motion want to the pot
