Q.

Hello Dr.! My query is, are we supposed to give toddlers rice 3 times a day? I give my child rice for breakfast and lunch and feed her dosa/idli/ragi etc for dinner. does this mean she is not getting enough nutrition? please let me know. thank you.

A. Hi, sorry I should clarify. she doesn't eat only rice I meant rice as a base she eats fruits, vegetables, lentils, green leaves, juice, cheese, dates and all that. she eats rice with different kinds of dal and veggies and curd, etc. What I wanted to know was is dosa or idli or ragi an ideal dinner? Or should I be giving her rice for the 3rd time in a day?

A. Hi, yes your child is getting not enough nutrition. Rice is a part of diet but it can't be the only thing in the diet. Please include roti, vegetables , fruits also in her diet as this will lead to her overall growth and development.
