Q.
hello doctor, my baby has hand foot and mouth disease.can I use coconut oil?currently am using calamine lotion.which are the foods should I avoid? doctor said she has tomato fever (HFMD).once the fever comes it will come again or not?

ExpertDr.Rasika ThosarPaediatric Intensivist6 years agoA. t Hi good day. Maintain hydration nutritious diet cleanliness There's no specific treatment for hand-foot-and-mouth disease. Frequent hand-washing and avoiding close contact with people who are infected with hand-foot-and-mouth disease may help reduce your child's risk of infection. Encourage your child’s oral intake by giving frequent small amounts of fluids to prevent dehydration ― often, cool fluids, or even frozen juice popsicles can be helpful! Using a straw to drink can also help reduce the pain by preventing the fluids from touching the ulcer. Give your child soft, bland foods that are easy to chew and swallow. Cut foods into small pieces, or mash, blend or pGive2, nuts, tomatoes and chocolates, as they can often make the ulcers more painful. Always remember that fluid intake is more important than eating any solids.

NikithaMom of a 11 yr old boy6 years agoA. hand foot and mouth disease is contagious and baby may or may not get it further in future.. but maintaining hygiene is very important and give the complete dosage of medicine prescribed by doctor
