A. For your 9-month-old baby, you can start introducing a variety of solid foods while continuing to breastfeed or formula feed as the primary source of nutrition. At this age, babies can eat a mix of mashed, finely chopped, or soft finger foods. Here are some food suggestions: 1. Fruits: Soft fruits like mashed banana, pureed apple, pear, or avocado are great options. You can also offer small pieces of soft fruits like watermelon or peaches that your baby can hold and munch on. 2. Vegetables: Steamed or boiled vegetables like carrots, sweet potatoes, peas, or pumpkin can be mashed or cut into small pieces for your baby to try. These are easy to digest and full of nutrients. 3. Cereals and Grains: Oatmeal, porridge, and rice cereal can be good choices. You can introduce soft, cooked rice or small pieces of bread as well. 4. Protein: Offer mashed or finely chopped soft protein sources like well-cooked lentils, dal, scrambled eggs, or small pieces of soft chicken or fish. Avoid adding too many spices or salt. 5. Dairy: You can introduce small pieces of cheese, plain yogurt, or cottage cheese, but avoid whole milk as a drink until your baby is 1 year old. 6. Finger Foods: Offer small pieces of soft foods like crackers, breadsticks, or small chunks of cooked vegetables and fruits that your baby can hold and self-feed. Make sure to avoid choking hazards such as nuts, popcorn, or hard foods, and always supervise your baby while eating. Continue offering breast milk or formula as the primary source of nutrition until your baby is 1 year old. You can introduce new foods one at a time to check for any allergic reactions.
