Q.

Can we have ajwain during first trimester ?..like ajwain mixed samosa or ajwain mixed paratha ?

A. Eating ajwain in the right quantity during pregnancy is usually considered safe. Care should be taken to eat it in moderation. If you cannot eat ajwain seeds in their raw form, soak them in water and consume the ajwain water. Ajwain seeds speed up digestion, improve the overall health of the gut and provide relief from stomach disorders. They provide relief from constipation and chest congestion due to cold and cough by eliminating phlegm. They help reduce bad cholesterol and increase the levels of good cholesterol. They have anti bacterial and anti fungal properties and hence they help fight against the growth of bacteria such as salmonella and E. Coli which are responsible for food poisoning.
