#asktheexperts my child is having cough regularly. while coughing he is getting litte phlem out . chest xray is normal and tb is also negative. what should we do?

A. If your child has a regular cough with phlegm, but the chest X-ray is normal and TB is negative, it may be due to allergies, sinus issues, or postnasal drip. Environmental triggers like dust, pollution, or cold weather can also cause persistent cough. Ensure your child stays hydrated, avoid cold or fried foods, and use a humidifier if the air is dry. You can give saline nasal drops and consult your doctor about an antiallergic syrup or inhaler if needed. If the cough continues beyond 2–3 weeks, follow up with a pediatrician or ENT specialist for further evaluation.
