#asktheexperts Hi ma'am this is Nitin here Father of 10months young boy... I want to ask that what I could do as a home remedy for my son if he catches cold & cough... also please suggest some OTC medication which could be used for the treatment of cold & cough.

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy1 Year agoA. This can occur due to either allergy or infection and some times due to weather changes and temperature variations around the child.
For cold you can give syp allegra 2.5 ml twice daily to the child.
try to prevent temperature variations around the child and give nasal saline drops every three hourly for nasal blockage and simple cough and cold. Indirect steam will also help.
Go for home rremedies like Tulsi Ginger diluted with water combination and turmeric with milk at least 2 times per day.(honey can be added after 1 year age)
Give warm water to drink r
If no improvement in 2 or 3 days then meet your doctor
For fever and pain give paracetamol.
