#asktheexperts dear doctor, my son is 18 months old and for the past two weeks, he suffers from chest congestion accompanied with wet cough and sometimes vomit with thick mucous. I have consulted a pediatrician and was prescribed one antibiotics azibact syrup once daily, macphyllyne syrup one tea spoon thrice daily, prednisolone one tea spoon thrice daily and asthalin syrup one tea spoon thrice daily for the past three days but chest congestion is still there especially when he is playing he has fast breathing and heaviness. please share your advice.

it appears to be allergic cough/cold ( most commonly seen in children less than 6 years of age).
usually they are not associated with fever and the cough and cold can continue for many weeks.
they can be associated with temperature variations around the body (hot to cold or cold to hot environmental changes) which the body cannot sustain leading to cough usually at evening /night and morning.
also they may be food allergy ,cold allergy and allergy to dust,smoke,pollens also.s

when allergies are not controlled they can lead to intermittent respiratory infections which needs other medicine  z
