#AskTheExpert my daughter 5 year 10 mnth. she is not having food. don't like anything. anything I gave everytime she deny. she is very choosy. not eat proper. her weight is 17 kg. but active in every field. plz guide me she eat propey. thnx

A. Low appetite can be due to reasons like low zinc levels or too much dairy products or less gap between meals etc. Include ajwain , ginger, lemon or carrot juice, coconut water, curd with mint in the kid's meals to boost the appetite. South Indian rasam will also increase the appetite. Help her to try varieties at home . Don't give too many choices. If she doesn't like the food you serve, leave it, let her feel the hunger and soon she will be ready to try the food than expecting you will anyway get what she wants to eat. If u keep on giving choices then she will stick to her favourite foods only which she will expect u to arrange somehow irrespective of the situation. I know it's difficult in practice but you have to be strong and don't give up fearing for her tantrums. She is mature enough to feel her hunger and u should make him understand that all the time she cannot expect her favourite foods and should learn to eat other stuffs too. Encourage her through small rewards. Give a sticker everytime she eats well, let her paste it on her cupboard. Once she collects ten stickers give her a small gift. Tell her in prior how she can earn this.
