A. when you take the temperature in the armpit of the child with the help of a digital thermometer and if it is 99 f (37 c) or more then you consider it as fever or when you take the temperature in the oral cavity of the child and if it is 100 degree fahrenheit then you cxonsider it as fever and then paracetamol is given. along with paracetamol continue body sponge and keep the child in light clothes. paracetamol can be repeated maximum four times per day x

A. For a baby with a fever of 100.2°F and cold symptoms, it's good that you're giving Calpol (paracetamol/acetaminophen) to help manage the fever. However, the correct dosage of Calpol depends on your baby's weight, not just age. ### General Guidelines for Paracetamol Dosage: - **Dosage**: The typical dosage for paracetamol in infants is 10-15 mg per kilogram of body weight, every 4 to 6 hours, but not more than 4 doses in 24 hours. - **Concentration**: Ensure you are using the correct concentration of Calpol (usually 120 mg/5 ml for infants). ### Steps to Determine Dosage: 1. **Know Your Baby's Weight**: If you haven't weighed your baby recently, you might want to estimate based on recent check-ups. 2. **Calculate Dosage**: Multiply your baby's weight in kilograms by 10-15 mg to determine the appropriate dosage range. For example: - If your baby weighs 8 kg, the dose would be between 80 mg (8 kg × 10 mg) and 120 mg (8 kg × 15 mg). - With a concentration of 120 mg/5 ml, this equates to approximately 3.3 to 5 ml of Calpol. ### **Important Considerations**: - **Avoid Overdosing**: Make sure you're not exceeding the recommended dose. - **Check Timing**: Administer the medication every 4 to 6 hours as needed but not more than 4 times in 24 hours. ### **Cold Management**: - **Hydration**: Keep your baby well-hydrated with breast milk or formula. - **Nasal Saline Drops**: Use saline drops and a nasal aspirator to help relieve nasal congestion. - **Comfort**: Keep the baby in comfortable clothing and maintain a cool, humid environment. ### **When to Seek Medical Attention**: - **Persistent Fever**: If the fever persists for more than a day or rises above 102°F. - **Difficulty Breathing**: If your baby is struggling to breathe, wheezing, or showing signs of respiratory distress. - **Reduced Feeding**: If your baby is refusing to eat or drink. - **Lethargy**: If your baby is unusually sleepy or difficult to wake. ### Conclusion: For a baby with a temperature of 100.2°F, 5 ml of Calpol may be appropriate, but it's crucial to confirm based on your baby's weight. Continue monitoring your baby's symptoms and consult your pediatrician if you have any concerns or if symptoms persist.
