Q.

#AskTheExpert my 6 months old leans forward when i try to make him sit but still is able to hold himself from falling with help of his hands for some time. Is it safe/fine for his back? A Or is it too early to try make him sit. Will this sitting posture impact his spine?

A. Baby grows in phasic manner First back muscles get strengthen Baby started sitting with support by 4 to 5 months follow by sitting without support 8 to 9 months Rolling or spontaneous sitting comes by 10 to 11months, Standing comes by 13 months. Baby must walk by 18 months if not so must consult for lower limb muscle tone and power. Consult with pediatrics neurologist.

A. most babies can sit without support after around 6 months and move into a sitting position after about 9 months. However, each baby is different, and some may take less or more time to sit up by themselves.
