Cold most of the time is a  viral illness where there could be running nose sneezing along with cough and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration . steam inhalation will also be useful in this .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine  which should be used once a proper evaluation by the doctor is done gyand  according to the type of cough its prescribed.
if any  fever is there paracetamol can be given to reduce the temperatyure and the dose can be repeated again after 6 hours  if required .

Apply babyhug rapid relief roll on or vicks babyrub on the chest and feet sole of the baby to get relief from cough and cold. 
Cover the feet with socks.
