#asktheexpert Is it essential to do newborn screening profile for all the babies?Can it be sent with cord blood?On what day after birth it should be done?

it is blood test to check rare genetic , hormone -related and metabolic conditions that can cause serious health problems.
this test lets doctor diagnose babies quickly and start treatment as soon as possible .
so if it is suggested by your pediatrician ,you should get it done.
A small blood sample taken by pricking the baby's heel is tested .
it is done usually at 1 or 2 days of age.
