Q.

#asktheexpert Hii doctor, my my daughter is of age 6 month and she relies on breastfeeding. She denies formula milk. She don’t want to feed from bottle. She gets irritated when I give her formula milk and my breast milk supply is not sufficient to quench. Her hunger can suggest some serial food so that I can make it at home and feed her.

A. Hello good morning !! From 6 month onwards you can give semi solid foods once or twice a day rest of the day milk either breast milk or formula milk. Fruit, vegetable puriee, mash, cerelac(wash ,sun dry for 2-3 days ,dry roast pulses, grains for 2-3 minutes to absorb moist ,let it cool and grind into fine powder, store in tight container. Boil water ,add ghee and cerelac powder stirr continuously so that no lumps forms ,in semi solid consistency off the flame and let it cool and serve to baby. You can add vegetable, fruit grate or puriee ,nuts powder in cerelac while cooking but check suitability of every new food item.
