#asktheexpert hi my baby is 20 months old .he is a boy and he has mild bicuspid aortic valve and stenosis with gradient 19 mmHg,is it life threatning ,what to do?

A. Bicuspid valves may eventually leak (aortic regurgitation) and/or narrow (aortic stenosis). It can be years before BAV causes an issue. Once your valve shows signs of regurgitation or stenosis, your heart is likely working harder to pump blood to the body. The extra work can lead to heart failure.

Q. my 2 year old girl has a mild aortic stenosis from birth....lastly November 2022 followup echo is taken and the echo is shown as same mild aortic stenosis and they told after 6 to 8 months next followup echo..but now past 2 weeks she is crying unnecessarily and doesn't sleep properly..does mild aortic will develop to moderate or any severe problem please tell me..
