#asktheexpert Can weight gain in small kids be due to deficiency of vitamin D? I have my daughter tested for thyroid test. The reports are normal but she is gaining weight.

A. no, it's not due to vit d deficiency. Give well balanced diet including all five healthy food groups: vegetables, fruit, grain foods, dairy and protein. Avoid foods high in salt, saturated fat and sugar, foods low in fibre and nutrients, and drinks with caffeine or lots of sugar.
