POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy4 months agoA. Yes, teary eyes in a one-and-a-half-month-old baby are quite common and usually due to a blocked tear duct, which many newborns are born with. It often causes watery eyes or slight discharge, especially when the baby cries or wakes up. This usually improves on its own by 6 to 12 months. You can gently massage the inner corner of the eye (near the nose) with clean fingers a few times a day to help open the duct. If there's redness, swelling, or yellowish discharge, consult a pediatrician to rule out infection.
