Worm infections in children are mainly caused by poor hygiene, contaminated food or water, playing in soil, and contact with infected individuals. Common types include roundworms, pinworms, tapeworms, and hookworms. Symptoms may include stomach pain, weight loss, itching around the anus (especially at night), diarrhea, nausea, and loss of appetite.
Treatment and Prevention: Deworming Medicine: Doctors usually prescribe Albendazole or Mebendazole for deworming. Hygiene Practices: Wash hands regularly, trim nails, and keep surroundings clean. Food Safety: Avoid raw or undercooked meat, wash fruits and vegetables properly. Deworming Schedule: The WHO recommends deworming every 6 months for children above 1 year in high-risk areas.
