my baby also suffered alot of diaper rash doctor suggested me to apply coconut oil or Vaseline ( petroleum) and use diaper it's very helpful

there is a difference in a rash and just redness down there so just apply Vaseline to begin for few days redness will be gone 
if there is a rash skin peeling  then move to diper rash cream
