POOJA KOTHARIExpecting Mom due in 1 month3 months agoA. If your 6-month-old baby cries a lot while passing stool, it may be due to constipation or hard stools, which can cause discomfort or even mild pain. This is common when babies start solids around this age.
✅ What you can do:
Check stool consistency
If the stool is hard, dry, or pellet-like, it means your baby is constipated.
Increase fluid intake
Offer more breast milk or formula. If your doctor allows, you can give a few sips of warm water (1–2 tsp, 1–2 times a day).
Tummy massage and leg exercise
Gently massage the baby’s tummy in a circular motion. Move their legs in a bicycle motion to relieve gas and promote bowel movement.
Food check (if on solids)
Avoid constipating foods like banana, apple, rice cereal. Give pureed prunes, pears, or papaya, which help soften stool. ⚠️ When to see a doctor: If the baby’s stool has blood If the baby hasn't passed stool in 2–3 days If there's severe crying, bloating, or vomiting
A gentle change in diet, hydration, and tummy care usually helps. Let me know what solids your baby is eating — I can guide you better.
