my mother in-law is suggesting me to give gripe water to my 6 months old baby.but i don't know why it is needed?

A. it's not compulsory to give it. as she is 6 month old Start with liquid diet like Daal Pani, Rick kanji than introduce fruit n vegetable pureed, as it’s easy to digest.
