Q.

my daughter is now 9 months..her birth weight is 3.2kg now she is 6.2kg not attaining optimum weight as per her birth weight..her developmental activities are good...I am giving homemade rice dal powder porridge with veggies, ragi porridge with apple, banana powder porridge but not gaining weight. should I switch to commercial packed cereal or continue with this food routine?

A. you can give either Cerelac or homemade foods also to be given at timesAfter 6 month complete you can start weaning your child with simple foods that are prepared at home or cerelac, nestum kind of Pre- prepared baby foods. At that time you can also start giving water but it is always preferable to avoid using salt sugar and honey till 1 year. Continue breastfeeding the baby but you should make sure that you are either giving breastfeed or formula Milk but not animal milk before 1 year. You can give rice porridge Ragi porridge mashed soft fruits like Banana Chiku Apple Puree and other seasonal fruits like mangoes, watermelons etc.

A. I am doing all these routine..giving water and breastfeed, no formula milk. even though she is not getting proper weight. what should I do?
