Q.

My child is 7 weeks old. He suddenly starts crying loudly and turns black. He cries for a few seconds and then gets frozen for 2-3 seconds with blank eyes. After that he closes his fist and becomes normal but very tired. Looks like #breathholding We have consulted a pediatrician and started iron drops from the last 15 days but still no improvement. He does this 3-4 times a day. Is it related to heart or brain issues. If yes, then what kind of problem can it be ?

A. it is not related to brain they are also known as breath holding spells which many times occur due to change in behaviour of the child as well as it is commonly associated with iron deficiency anaemia. it is important that you should give iron supplements to the child as well as food rich in iron and during the episode it is important to move the child away from that environment to a new environment and then divert the child. it is a self limiting problem and will go away in next 2 or 3 months maximum. can take opinion of a Neurologist also to clear the doubts

A. Is it normal for a child with this age ? Have you seen any case like this ? Blowing on his face works for us. I hope nothing serious and will go with age .

A. Yes I think it could probably be associated with the brain of the child I would suggest you to check with the neurologist one time if they advised you to conduct a test or something go for it at least you’ll be sure if there’s an issue or there is nothing to be worried because it’s very important to take care of the situation
