POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy4 months agoA. I understand — your child has ringworm (fungal infection) that is not healing even after applying KZ cream and other antifungal creams.
This can happen sometimes, especially in kids, because fungal infections are stubborn and need stronger or longer treatment.
Here’s what you need to know:
1. Reasons why it is not healing:
Not enough duration of treatment (fungus needs at least 3–4 weeks of continuous treatment). Infection has spread deeper or wider. Child is scratching a lot and re-spreading it. Clothes, bedsheets, towels are not disinfected and keep reinfecting. Cream alone may not be enough, sometimes oral antifungal medicines are needed.
2. What you should do now:
Visit a pediatric dermatologist once. They might prescribe a stronger antifungal cream + sometimes an oral antifungal syrup (like Fluconazole or Terbinafine) if it’s severe. Continue cream use twice daily for minimum 3–4 weeks even if the patch looks better. Wash and iron clothes, bedsheets, towels daily (hot water wash). Keep skin dry — moisture helps fungus grow. Cut nails short to prevent scratching and spreading. No sharing towels, clothes with anyone.
Important:
Don't stop treatment early even if skin looks better — otherwise it comes back stronger. No steroid creams (like Betnovate) — they make fungal infections worse.
In short:
You need a doctor's help now for possible oral medicine + proper hygiene at home. Ringworm is completely curable but needs patience and correct treatment!
