A. For an 8-month-old baby, it's generally recommended to cook apples before serving them as a puree. Here's why: ### Why Cook Apples for Babies? 1. **Digestibility**: Cooking apples softens their texture, making them easier for babies to digest. Raw apples can be harder to process and might cause discomfort or digestive issues. 2. **Safety**: Cooking apples helps break down certain compounds that can be harder for babies to digest. Raw apples can also pose a choking hazard if not prepared properly. 3. **Nutrient Absorption**: Cooking can help release some of the nutrients in apples, making them more available for absorption. ### How to Prepare Apple Puree 1. **Steaming**: - **Method**: Peel and core the apples, then cut them into small pieces. Steam them until tender (about 5-10 minutes) and then blend into a smooth puree. - **Benefits**: Steaming helps retain more nutrients compared to boiling and makes the apples soft and easy to blend. 2. **Boiling**: - **Method**: Peel, core, and chop the apples. Boil them in a small amount of water until soft, then blend into a smooth puree. - **Benefits**: Boiling is effective but might cause some nutrient loss. Use minimal water and avoid overcooking. 3. **Baking**: - **Method**: Peel, core, and chop the apples. Bake them in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 15-20 minutes until tender. Blend into a smooth puree. - **Benefits**: Baking can enhance the natural sweetness of apples. ### Tips for Serving Apple Puree - **Check Temperature**: Ensure the puree is cool enough before feeding it to your baby. - **Mix with Other Foods**: You can mix apple puree with other purees like carrot, sweet potato, or pear for variety. - **Observe for Allergies**: Introduce new foods one at a time and watch for any signs of allergies or sensitivities. If you prefer to try raw apple puree, ensure that the apples are peeled and finely grated or processed, and watch closely for any signs of discomfort or difficulty in digestion. However, steaming or cooking is typically the safer and more recommended method for preparing apple puree for infants.

A. Of course by all means actually you should not steam the fruits while giving to the child because you kill all the nutrients into the fruits as soon as you steam them or boil them so personally I don’t find it a very good idea so never suggest you to do the same you should always give things to the child in the manner that is available in the nature
