Q.

My baby is 2 years old and she has had a high fever for 24 hours. I was giving her calpol syrup but the fever hasn't been low. also along with fever she has severe cold.

A. Fever is commonly seen in babies and mostly it's viral infection which is very common in children. But if fever is high grade and persisting or assosiated with specific symptoms than other causes should also be ruled out . Antipyretic like paracetamol or ibuprofen or mefenamic acid are usually given to reduce fever . Cold sponging with lukewarm water is also helpful . Doctor consultatvion should be done if symptoms like excessive irritabilithy dullness loss of appetite less urine output is there .

A. hi then you must consult your pediatrician it is important keep your child well hydrated Rub onion slices on chest and back of your child which definitely help to reduce the temperature and cold symptoms. dress your child lightly
