A. black tongue can be due to iron supplements you might be giving to the child and it should get cleaned with your clean finger. if it is not decreasing in intensitfy after cleaning then you will have to rule out fungal infection of the tongue. it is advisable to get the child examine by the doctor.

A. A black discoloration in the center of a 3-month-old baby's tongue can be concerning. Here are some possible reasons and steps to take: ### **Possible Causes:** 1. **Oral Thrush:** This is a common fungal infection caused by Candida, which can sometimes cause a white or discolored coating on the tongue. 2. **Milk Residue:** Sometimes, milk or formula can leave a temporary discoloration on the tongue, which is usually not a concern. 3. **Tongue Injury:** A minor injury or irritation can cause discoloration, but this should resolve on its own. 4. **Dietary Factors:** Although less common at this age, certain foods or substances might temporarily stain the tongue. ### **Steps to Take:** 1. **Examine:** Gently check the tongue to see if the discoloration is accompanied by any other symptoms such as white patches, redness, or discomfort. 2. **Consult a Pediatrician:** Since the baby is only 3 months old, it's important to consult a pediatrician to rule out any underlying issues or infections. 3. **Oral Hygiene:** Ensure that the baby's mouth is cleaned regularly with a clean, damp cloth, especially after feeding. A healthcare provider will be able to provide a precise diagnosis and appropriate treatment if necessary.
