Q.

My 3.5 months old baby fell off from bed today in a split second I wasn't looking he rolled over. There was a carpet on the floor he fell on the carpet. There are no signs of any bruising or swelling nor any other symptoms. He cried for 5 mins as he was scared after that he is playing normally and taking his feeds. He seems perfectly normal but I am still feeling anxious and worried should I get him checked as well?

A. There was no loss of consciousness no vomiting his movements are normal infact he is playing and rolling over happily so does that mean he is safe? There was no swelling at all still I did some icing and gave him paracetamol as a precaution.

A. Any Fall injury specially head injury needs to be assessed properly . In any such case certain symptoms needs to be checked like loss of consciousness reccurrent vomiting or any abnormal moment or convulsions . Such case needs immediate medical intervention as there could be some internal injury . Otherwise application of ice locally to reduce the swelling and pain can be done along with some analgesic like paracetamol. Recurrethunt fall injury for a child should be avoided as it can lead to some chronic manifestations occasionally . Also teeth injury should be rule out in any such case which is commonly associated and can be easily missed out most of the time .
