POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy8 months agoA. At 5 months and 5 days, it is not uncommon for babies to be inconsistent with their rolling or crawling abilities. Here's what you can expect:
Rolling: Most babies roll over for the first time between 4 to 6 months. Your baby has already rolled in the 4th month, which is a good sign. After that, babies may take some time to refine the movement. It is normal for them to roll occasionally but not consistently on their own until they gain more muscle strength and coordination.
Crawling: Babies typically begin to crawl between 6 to 10 months, although some may start earlier or later. Crawling requires strength and coordination in the arms, legs, and core muscles, which develop gradually as your baby spends more time on her tummy and explores her environment.
To encourage rolling and crawling:
1. Tummy Time: Ensure that your baby gets plenty of tummy time while awake. This strengthens the muscles needed for both rolling and crawling.
2. Motivation: Place toys or objects just out of her reach to encourage movement. This can motivate her to roll or reach toward the object.
3. Supportive Environment: Give her the space and opportunity to explore safely, whether on a soft mat or a safe area of the floor.
If she has rolled before and is not doing so consistently, there’s no need for concern as long as she continues to meet other developmental milestones. However, if you notice any significant delay in her physical development, it’s always a good idea to consult your pediatrician for advice.
