Q.

Hello, My girl sleeps very late at night. Almost at 1 am. My wife stays tired because of that. We take her to bed at 10:30 to 11. But she starts jumping, playing, exploring till she sleeps. We have tried feeding her. But she gets more energy. Any advice?

A. Keep baby's room well ventilated, cool and comfortable. Dim the lights and feed at night. Keep noise levels and activities to a minimum after evening hours. Try to keep a routine of play, bath, and sleep timings. Massage and bath before bed. Give hindmilk that comes later from breastmilk which contains fats and keeps baby full longer. Use a white noise machine which plays soothing music or rain or water sounds. Keep a cool and calm environment at night and keep lights and noise level low. Dont talk or interact with baby when he wakes up at night. Keep day time well lit and play or do lot of activities. Baby could be having teething pain. So try to give a gentle massage to baby's gums with a soft cotton cloth or finger brush. Give a chilled teether or washcloth for relief from teething pain. Follow the 2 , 3 , 4 method of sleep for babies.
