A. It's common for some children at this age to still be developing their language skills, but if you're noticing limited vocabulary or unclear speech, there are steps that can help him improve: 1. Talk and Engage More: Regularly talk to him, describing what you’re doing, naming objects, and using simple sentences. Try to encourage him to repeat words. 2. Read Books Together: Choose picture books or simple stories and read aloud, pointing to the pictures and asking him questions like “What’s this?” 3. Use Repetition and Emphasis: Repeating words clearly and using emphasis can help reinforce language. For example, if he says “ba” for “ball,” you can reply, “Yes, it’s a ball.” 4. Limit Screen Time: Research shows that too much screen time can delay language development. Focus on interactive, face-to-face play instead. 5. Encourage Conversation: Ask questions and wait for his response, even if it takes a little time. This shows that you’re interested in hearing his words. If you don’t see improvement over time or feel his speech is not progressing, consulting a speech-language therapist may be beneficial. They can offer personalized strategies and assess if there’s any underlying cause.
