A. Scarlet fever, also known as scarlatina, is an infectious disease caused by the same bacteria that lead to strep throat. It primarily affects children, especially those between 5 and 12 years old. Here are some key points about scarlet fever: Symptoms: Fever Sore throat Chills Headache Vomiting Stomach pain Coated white tongue Strawberry-like color of the tongue The characteristic red, sandpaper-like rash appears on the neck, forehead, cheeks, and chest, and may spread to the arms and back. The rash typically fades after 2 to 7 days, and the affected skin may peel afterward, especially on the hands, feet, and genitals.
