before pregnency I did not take folic acid. .is it effect on baby?

If you have not taken it and you’ve already delivered then it’s alright if your child is happy healthy and everything is good then why do you have to worry about it folic acid is important as it cover covers of different things but if you haven’t taken it it’s okay
