Cough along with Cold most of the time is a  viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and egpxpectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be given only after a proper evaluation by the doctor accordingr to the type of cough.
if fever is there paracetamol can be given to reduce the fever and the dose can be repeated after 6 hours again if required .

yes,it happens because of pollution, allergic reaction to dust , pollen etc or it happens because of low immunity too
so please maintain good Hydration
give Turmeric milk once in a day which definitely help to strengthen your child Immunity.
choose Weather appropriate clothes for your child.
give Sunbath for 20 minutes a day
give Tulsi leaves with pinch of salt, turmeric powder and few drops of lemon juice daily in morning.
