Q.

#asktheexperts My baby was diagnosed with Renal pelvis dilatation, during birth it was 8mm and after 45days scan it was said as 11mm and during 90 days scan it's mentioned as 8mm with external component. I dint understand the medical terms. Now my baby is 5months old, doctor advised we can do next scan after 6months. I understood the size is decreased but what is that external component. is there possibility that it gets decreased on its own and will not increase? need your valuable feedback.

A. In many of the children who are diagnosed prenatally, the condition disappears spontaneously by the time of birth or soon after. In children who have mild or sometimes moderate hydronephrosis, kidney function is commonly unaffected and the condition may resolve over a period of time after delivery.
