Q.

#AskTheExpert my second baby is 3 months 7 days old her birth weight is 3.16 kg she is on breast milk. her weigh is 4.40 on May 7. i am worried if her weight is normal or she is underweight. i tried to put formula milk from yesterday but she is refusing to take it. please advice me if her weight if that is ok or what can I do to make baby to have formula. all other activities are normal.

A. in first six months the minimum weight gain should be 500 mg per month and it can go up to 1 kg per month also. the urine output should be more than 6 to 7 times per day. the child should sleep after taking feeding. meet the doctor for weight assessment.g if the above criteria is achieved then the child is having adequate milk intake. if the growth of the child is proper there is no need to worry about cthe sleeping pattern/ feeding as well as the stool frequency of the child

A. Hi It’s approximately 12 to 1400 g I believe in three months that is okay not great but that’s okay yes but it would be important for you to introduce formula feeding to the child so instead of a feeding bottle try giving it with the help of a spoon and then see if your child responds well
