POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy1 Year agoA. Rubbing the face and nose in an 8-month-old baby can be due to various reasons:
1. **Self-Soothing**: Babies often rub their face or nose as a self-soothing mechanism, especially when they are tired or upset.
2. **Teething**: Rubbing the face or nose can be a response to the discomfort of teething. The pressure from rubbing can sometimes provide temporary relief from the pain.
3. **Exploration**: At this age, babies are learning about their bodies and may explore their face and nose through touching and rubbing.
4. **Irritation**: Check for any signs of irritation or dryness on the skin, which could be causing the baby to rub their face. Skin conditions or allergies could be a factor.
5. **Congestion**: If your baby has a stuffy nose or is experiencing any nasal congestion, they might rub their nose to relieve discomfort.
6. **Infection or Rash**: Sometimes, rubbing can indicate a mild infection or rash. Check for any redness, swelling, or other signs of skin issues.
If the rubbing is persistent and accompanied by other symptoms like redness, swelling, or irritation, or if you have concerns about your baby's comfort and health, it’s a good idea to consult a pediatrician for further evaluation and advice.
