A. Passing of stool after each feed till 3-5 yrs is due to strong gastrocolic reflex. If the quantity is more and if its watery and baby is sick then need to be examined and medically treated. 5 stools over a day in normal consistency and volume is normal for this age. These are all normal stools. Breastfed babies often pass more than 6 stools per day. Until 2 months of age, they may pass a stool after each feeding. But, if stools suddenly increase in number and looseness, suspect diarrhea.First 3 months for children who are formula-fed — Expect two to three soft bowel movements daily. 6 months–1 year — Expect two bowel movements daily. 1–3 years — Expect one to two bowel movements daily. 4 years and older — Expect one bowel movement daily. Most babies have the occasional loose bowel movement, which is normal and is seldom a cause for concern. But if there's a sudden increase in the number of loose bowel movements or if your baby's stool suddenly becomes larger, looser, and more frequent, she may have diarrhea. consult your pediatrician once.

A. Pooing after every feed is especially common if you're breastfeeding your baby. It's a sign that your baby is getting plenty of milk.
