ExpertDr. Swapnil SaxenaAyurvedic Physician3 years agoA. start gradually with home made food and waterIf your breast feeding your baby then continue to breastfeed at regular intervals and there is no need to give anything else apart from mother milk or formula milk to baby till he complete 6months of age as it is complete food that takes care of hydration as well as nutrition. After 6 month you can gradually start weaning with homemade easy to digest food items like rice porridge ragi porridge mashed fruits apple Puree, mashed banana chiku etc.
But whatever you are introducing should be introduced gradually with a small amount
POOJA GOSWAMIMom of a 10 yr 6 m old girl3 years agoA. Whenever introducing semi solid foods in baby's diet between the age of 5-6 months, start slow with 4-6 spoons per serving and twice a day. Feed foods like lentil puree, mashed banana, apple, carrot and pear puree, mixed vegetable soup, khichdi, ragi and sooji porridge, home made cerelac, etc. Feed one food at a time for atleast 3 days to notice any allergies only after that give another food.
Till proper solid food is not introduced or till 1 year, babies do not need much water. Though you can give 200-250 ml water per day or as and when required.
