Offer small portions of food and let the kid finish it. Offer more only when the kid demands. Offer colourful foods and offer foods in colourful plates and bowls. Cut foods into different shapes using food cutters to attract the attention of the kid. Let the child be a part of meal preparations such as let him or help you in setting up the table before meals or choosing the vegetable for the meal. Kids at this age demand independence. Give him or her limited options like do you want a paneer parantha or aloo parantha? This way the kid will think that he or she is choosing the food to eat all by himself or herself. Give him or her a bowl and a spoon to eat and let him or her play with the food and make a mess. This is how the child will learn to eat independently while playing, touching and finally tasting the food. Avoid distractions during meals like TV, laptop, mobile phones and tablets.
